Lights of love lit up for lost loved ones in Warwick

Stratford Editorial 16th Dec, 2023   0

LOVED ones are being remembered in Warwick over the festive period.

Mayor Coun Oliver Jacques and Warwick Rotary Club president elect Dick Dixon welcomed over a hundred people to a service of dedication around the Lights of Love Christmas tree in Market Square.

The lights on the tree remember those that have died.

A short carol service was led by Canon Peter Holliday from St Mary’s Church. Readings relating to loss of loved ones were made by Mr Dixon, the mayor, town clerk Jayne Topham and Canon Holliday.

And members of Emscote and All Saints Junior school choir sang accompanied by Warwick Community Band.

During the service the lights on the Christmas tree were turned on. The tree, donated by Barn Close Nurseries, is now covered with cards donated by people remembering loved ones and will be left up until the New Year.

There is still time to place a card on the tree. Complete a form and return it to the Tourist Office, Claridges, Torreys, or the Post Office in Warwick.

They will stay on the tree until January 2.

Proceeds will be shared between Myton Hospice and the mayor’s charities. Names of those remembered are shown next to the tree and will be placed on the rotary website at www.warwickrotary.org.uk
