LIBERAL Democrat Manuela Perteghella has won the Welford-on-Avon by-election
It was held following the sudden death in January of Peter Barnes. He was Stratford District Council’s longest serving councillor having served for 30 years, first as a Liberal Democrat and then as an Independent councillor.
Manuela received 472 votees, followed by Richard Cox (Conservative) 323 votes, Neal Appleton (Independent) 231 votes, Anthony Kent (Labour) 41 votes and John Stott (Green Party) 15 votes.
It means the district council now comprises 19 Conservatives, 12 Liberal Democrats, four Independents and one Green.
