I would like to congratulate all those involved in the second Victorian Christmas Market held in Stratford-upon-Avon over the weekend of 7, 8 and 9 December.
The Victorian Christmas Market was designed to help breathe new life into the town at a time of year when trading conditions can be challenging for local retailers.
The inaugural event last year saw a 91 per cent increase in footfall in the town and this year saw a further increase with footfall of 102,000 over the three days.
This is a fantastic initiative that draws visitors from far and wide into the town. The Victorian Christmas Market also helps to create a sense of place for residents and local communities so that they can be proud of where they live, work and play.
The Festival has provided a good reason for both tourists and residents to visit Stratford and to have a unique experience, plus it adds considerable value to the local economy, helping traders with their Christmas offers. The Market has something for all the family including a Funfair for children of all ages.
The District Council, Town Council and LSD Promotions have built, and will continue to build on, this quality tourism event so that it meets visitor needs and expectations and extends the tourism season year on year, helping put Stratford-upon-Avon firmly on the map as the must go-to Christmas destination.
Here’s to another successful event in 2019!
