Letter of condolence written to King Charles on behalf of Stratford district residents

Stratford Editorial 27th Sep, 2022   0

THE CHAIRMAN of Stratford District Council (SDC), Coun Mark Cargill, has written to His Majesty King Charles III and the Royal Family to offer sincere condolences on behalf of all residents following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Dear Sir

As Chairman of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, I write on behalf of the residents to express our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to His Majesty King Charles lll and members of the Royal Family.

We were all greatly saddened on learning of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as she was an inspiration to us all as Britain’s longest serving monarch. Her dedication to service was unique and unparalleled, combining a sense of duty with both

grace and a warm heart.

This was evident and emphasised by the long queues of well-wishers, waiting patiently for many hours to pass their respects to her in Westminster Hall. Many millions of people around the World will have also joined us in watching the funeral with wonder and be

overcome in grief by the magnitude of the occasion.

Her Majesty will always be remembered for her welcoming smile, sense of humour and energy, together with a total devotion to her subjects for more than 70 years. Her Majesty’s ability to attend so many international events and meet millions of people during her reign is beyond the comprehension of many of us.

History has no boundaries, as witnessed by the significant changes in its leadership within the short space of a week, but in this new era under Your Majesty’s reign, we have every confidence that we shall continue to prosper with guidance from Your Royal Highness as the Head of State of our proud nation.

The residents of Stratford-on-Avon District join me in extending their best wishes to Your Royal Highness and the Royal Family for the future at this immensely difficult time

of great loss.

Long Live The King.

Yours faithfully

Cllr Mark Cargill

Chairman of Stratford on Avon District Council
