Lesson time at Shakespeare's Schoolroom during October half-term

Stratford Editorial 11th Oct, 2022   0

YOUNGSTERS missing lessons during the holidays need not despair.

Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall in Stratford is launching a new Family Friendly Trail this October half-term.

The tourist attraction, in Church Street, will be open throughout the holidays from 11am to 5pm where the schooldays of the young bard will be brought to life.

There will be even more encounters with “Young Will” as he explores the ancient building uncovering curious and intriguing facts. He will also be joined by some friends on his journey including Master Thomas Jenkins.

In the Georgian classroom – the setting where Shakespeare would have first watched professional theatrical performances – there will be Tudor-themed games, dressing up and quill writing.

Lindsey Armstrong, General Manager of Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall, said: “We love welcoming young visitors to the schoolroom – whether they have started to study Shakespeare or have yet to learn about him, there is nothing more valuable than getting a sense of who he was and to know that, like us all, the first steps that would influence his career began during his school days.

“We are an attraction that is about discovery in an entertaining way, which all our family friendly activities are designed to do and I’m delighted that we’ve added to them with a new trail around the building and some new activities in the Georgian classroom.”
