IT’S time to kick the Conservatives out of Stratford.
That was the response from Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Manuela Perteghella to prime minister Rishi Sunak calling a General Election on Wednesday (May 22).
She said: “This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to kick the Conservatives out of power and finally deliver the change and fresh start our area so desperately needs.
“People are telling me they’re fed up with years of chaos and neglect under this out-of-touch Conservative government.
“It’s clear that only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Stratford-on-Avon. Every vote will count.”
Campaigning for action to save the NHS, tackle the cost of living crisis and end the sewage scandal, Manuela said the Liberal Democrats were on the up in Stratford after their victory over the Conservatives last year in the local elections, when they won 25 out of the 41 seats on Stratford District Council.
At the 2019 General Election, the Liberal Democrats had come a good second in Stratford and were now in pole position to beat the Conservatives this time, Manuela believes.
She added: “After years of struggling to get an NHS appointment, soaring rents and mortgages and our rivers being polluted by filthy sewage, it’s time for a change in Stratford-on-Avon.
“As the next MP for Stratford-on-Avon, I will stand up for local health services, tackle the sewage scandal and be a strong voice for our community in parliament.
“I shall demand more support for our High Streets to make them into the vibrant places they once were and make it my business to tackle the dreadful traffic congestion in Stratford.”
