Henry V setting up home in Stratford

Stratford Editorial 9th Sep, 2017   0

HENRY V is coming to a roundabout in Stratford.

Plans for a new statue of one of the Bard’s most famous characters has been given the go-ahead.

The Tudor king will sit firmly in the middle of the traffic island next to Waitrose at the Rosebird shopping centre on Shipston Road.

Plans for the statue were submitted by the Bird Group, which owns both the Rosebird and Maybird shopping centres, as well as Wildmoor Spa.

Businessman Tony Bird is also hoping to install a specially commissioned bronze statue of Shakespeare near the birthplace, having previously twice had plans rejected to put it on the Bridge Street roundabout, and also the corner of High Street and Sheep Street.
