A CHARITY shop in Henley has been forced to close its doors after more than 25 years – but Shakespeare Hospice bosses have assured this is not the end.
The Shakespeare Hospice shop on High Street will be closing on March 7, as the lease has come to an end and the landlord is redeveloping the site.
A hospice spokesperson explained: “This isn’t a decision we wanted to make, and we know the shop has meant a great deal to so many.
“But we want to reassure everyone that we are not leaving Henley. We already have several retail events planned for the months ahead, including pop‑ups and new ways to donate so we can stay connected with the town.”
One of the first is The Style Exchange, which will take place on April 11 from 11am until 3pm at Henley Memorial Hall.
Also, as the hospice winds down the shop, it is running a 50 per cent off everything sale through to our final day of trading – a chance to snap up a bargain while still supporting local hospice care.
And the hospice still has other shops in the district in Stratford, Alcester, Bidford and Wellesbourne.

The hospice spokesperson added: “Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, shopped or popped in for a chat over the last 25 years. Henley’s generosity has made a real difference.”
