PEOPLE are being urged to support Warwickshire Pride.
The festival in Leamington’s Pump Room Gardens has been celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture since 2013 and organisers have launched a Crowdfunder campaign to keep the event running.
Rewards for donating range from a mention on Warwickshire Pride’s social media to a t-shirt.
Organiser Daniel Browne said: “Warwickshire Pride is a key event in the local festival calendar as it provides a safe and welcoming space for LGBT people, many of whom experience prejudice and discrimination in their everyday lives.
“It’s an opportunity for any person to be part of an event that welcomes and embraces them for they are.
“As the festival grows and people’s expectations grow too, it’s becoming more difficult to obtain the funding required to put on an event of this nature.
“Unlike other Pride events around the country, Warwickshire Pride is a grassroots, volunteer led, not-for-profit event.”
People who can help organise the festival and volunteer on the day are also being sought and organisers want to partner with businesses willing to help the Warwickshire Pride and the LGBT community.
This year’s event is set to take place from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, August 20.
