HEALTH screening events are taking place across the district.

Stratford District Council has joined together with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust to offer a series of health screening events for both men and women.

The events will enable people to have a number of health tests from a simple blood test. People can then seek further advice or action via their GP if necessary.

The health tests available are PSA prostate screening for men over 40, and diabetes and cholesterol check for men and women aged 18 and over.

The tests cost £14 each – subsidised by SDC.

Events are running from 10am until 2pm at Stratford Leisure Centre on Saturday May 31, Studley Leisure Centre on Saturday June 14, Southam Leisure Centre on July 12, The Greig Leisure Centre in Alcester on August 2, Stratford Leisure Centre on September 13 and Shipston Scout Hut on October 11.

SDC’s customer services spokesperson Coun Liz Coles said: “Increasing awareness of prostate cancer and other health conditions through screening is crucial to helping people across Stratford district remain vigilant about their health. Early detection significantly improves access to timely support and treatment.

“I strongly encourage all those who are eligible to take advantage of these screening events. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting residents in living full, healthy lives and achieving their potential, in line with the priorities in our Council Plan.”
