Health screening events taking place across Stratford district

HEALTH screening events are taking place across the district.

Stratford District Council’s first health screening event of 2026 takes place on Saturday March 21, coinciding with National Screening Day during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

The event will take place at Venture House on Birmingham Road in Stratford, from 10am to 2pm.

For the second consecutive year, SDC has partnered with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust to deliver a series of subsidised health screening opportunities for residents across the district. The programme offers simple but potentially life‑saving blood tests for men and women aged 18 and over, enabling early detection and timely medical intervention.

Tests are available at a discounted rate of £14 each, supported by SDC funding, and include PSA (Prostate Screening) for men over 40, diabetes screening for men and women aged 18+ and cholesterol checks for men and women aged 18 and over.

Appointments must be booked in advance at sdc.mypsatests.org.uk/ or by calling 01926 419959.

The 2025 screening programme demonstrated the significant value of proactive, community‑based health checks. Across seven events, 1,137 tests were completed.

In total 663 men underwent PSA testing, with 24 per cent referred to their GP for further investigation, 11 per cent of all participants recorded blood sugar levels outside the normal range and 80 per cent had cholesterol readings requiring GP follow‑up.

SDC’s customer services spokesperson Coun Liz Coles said: “We are proud to be continuing our partnership with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust for a second year. Last year’s results showed just how important these screenings are, with many residents discovering issues they would not otherwise have known about.

“By offering low-cost, accessible health checks, we are helping our communities take charge of their health and wellbeing. Launching this year’s programme on National Screening Day is a powerful reminder of the difference early detection can make, and we encourage as many residents as possible to book a test.”
