Guildhall taken over by youngsters for the day

Stratford Editorial 30th Nov, 2016   0

SHAKESPEARE’S Schoolroom and Guildhall were taken over by his contemporaries as part of museum takeover day.

Pupils from KES School got stuck into everything from helping at the ticket desk to acting as guides as they got involved in all the roles usually performed by staff at the visitor attraction as part of a national day organised by Kids in Museums.

The pupils were even given the opportunity to take on the challenge of becoming the character of Thomas Jenkins, who was the schoolmaster during Shakespeare’s time, and lead a lesson.

Will Morris, who took part in the day said: “Lots of the visitors were amazed that they could visit Shakespeare’s schoolroom. I loved being an Elizabethan schoolmaster for the day and the visitors were really good pupils. It was a great experience.”
