Green light given to 60 affordable homes on Long Marston airfield

Stratford Editorial 22nd Feb, 2024   0

THE GREEN light has been given for 60 affordable homes on Long Marston airfield.

The Airfield House development, led by affordable housing developer Vistry Group in collaboration with social housing provider GreenSquareAccord, will transform the final piece of the former RAF airfield.

The new homes will help to meet a variety of local housing need by providing 21 homes for affordable rent, 13 homes for social rent and the remaining 26 available under a shared ownership scheme.

And as well as transforming the final piece of this brownfield site into much-needed affordable housing for the area, Vistry is investing in the local community with a commitment to provide over £600,000 to bolster local services including cash for education, healthcare, highways, and policing.

There are set to be a total of 3,500 new homes on the airfield site through various development schemes.

Vistry spokesperson Adam Sharpe said: “We are excited to have secured planning permission for Airfield House and to be working with Greensquare Accord on this exciting new development. There is a significant need for new, high-quality, affordable housing in this part of the Warwickshire and this is a major step forward in meeting that demand. We know that affordable buyers will relish the opportunity to live in modern family homes and to be part of a vibrant and well-connected new community here in Warwickshire.”

Mike Nolan, from GreenSquareAccord, added: “We are proud to be delivering 60 new affordable homes for people and families in Warwickshire as part of the Long Marston Garden Village development.

“By providing homes for affordable and social rent alongside homes available under shared ownership scheme we are helping to meet a variety of local housing need in part of Warwickshire where it is highly desirable to live.”
