General Election: Labour say services at Horton Hospital would be supported under their leadership

LABOUR candidate Jeff Kenner has welcomed news that services at Horton Hospital would be supported if the party won the leadership race.

Residents in Shipston and other south Warwickshire villages use the Banbury-based hospital, which currently has some services under threat.

Mr Kenner said: “Labour is committed to halting the flawed Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) that have been foisted on hospital trusts by the conservative government, to essentially run essential health services on a severely reduced budget.”

And Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Jon Ashworth said: “A Labour government with me as Health Secretary would halt the STP for Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire and closure of services at the Horton Hospital, prior to an urgent review of both in order that the local population can have confidence in future changes to service provision there.”
