THE FUTURE looks bright for scouts and sporting folk in Henley.
The old scout hut is set to be demolished and replaced with a new state-of-the-art facility at the Stratford Road site.
Stratford District Council has approved plans to replace and extend the existing building which is owned by The Henley-in-Arden War Memorial Trust.
The project is set to cost around £250,000 and will include a new scout hut, cafe, updated changing rooms and showers, landscaping and a resurfaced car park.
The new facility will be known as the Arden Recreational Centre, or ARC for short, and will mainly be used by youngsters, although there will be also be senior football and cricket.
Henley ward councillor Stephen Thirwell is backing the plans.
He said: “The scout hut is a key building in Henley and this will do a lot to support the further growth in sport and leisure in the town.
“It will ensure that the facilities are brought up to date.”
The trust is looking for help raise the funds for the project.
