AN AUTOMOTIVE tool business based in south Warwickshire is celebrating its 50th anniversary by supporting the young mechanics of the future.
Laser Tools marked half a century in business with the launch of Future 50 – a new initiative designed to support aspiring mechanics in their first steps into the automotive aftermarket.
It was officially launched at a special anniversary event on Tuesday March 24 at Laser Tools’ head office in Southam.
Future 50 will offer garages the opportunity to nominate their apprentices – the qualifying criteria being those already enrolled in training and actively working within a garage – to be part of the new initiative.
The chosen Future 50 will each receive a Laser Tools Apprentice Tool Kit, complete with various high-quality products, to support their development as young mechanics beginning their career journey in the industry.
Training and accreditation opportunities will also be available.
Laser Tools managing director Eddie Altham said: “We are very proud to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Laser Tools.
“It’s a magnificent milestone to achieve and gives us an opportunity to reflect on how far the company has come since Martin Smith founded the business.
“While it’s a time to reflect, it’s also an opportunity to focus on the years ahead and the Future 50 is designed to do that by supporting the next generation of mechanics and technicians.
“With the wider automotive aftermarket facing a skills gap, it’s a good time to launch the Future 50 as it provides practical support to young people beginning their career journey in the industry.”
Laser Tools started as a business in 1976, when its founder, the late Martin Smith, began selling automotive tools from a market stall in Leamington. From those humble origins, it has grown to become one of the most respected brands in the automotive sector.
