Fundraisers walk 25 miles for 25 years of The Shakespeare Hospice

FUNDRAISERS laced up their hiking boots for a celebratory walk in aid of The Shakespeare Hospice.

A team of walkers trekked 25 miles along part of Shakespeare’s Way to bank cash and mark a major milestone for the charity.

The walk, for the hospice’s 25th birthday, took them through villages and rolling countryside, ending at the River Avon in Stratford opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Hospice spokesperson Bridget Richards said: “We are overwhelmed by the incredible support shown by our community in this year’s Shakespeare’s Way Challenge Walk. We extend our deepest gratitude to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made this event possible.

“Special thanks to our sponsors Parkway Consultants, Johnsons Coaches, Morrisons, and Crowne Plaza, whose generosity helped us exceed our fundraising goals. Additionally, we are immensely grateful to our walk leaders and guides whose expertise ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all.”

The funds raised, totalling £11,500, will enable the hospice to continue providing vital care and support to those in the community affected by life-limiting illnesses.

And The Shakespeare Hospice is hosting a Summer Fete and Tea Party at its base in Shottery on Saturday June 15 from 12.30pm to 3pm. The fete is open to everyone and will include garden games, entertainment, stalls, a raffle, tombola, food and refreshments.
