Fuel poverty and SEND provision among the challenges according to Stratford MP

FUEL poverty, SEND provision and river pollution are some of the challenges facing the constituency according to Stratford MP Manuela Perteghella.

Dr Perteghella delivered her maiden speech in parliament on Thursday September 12.

The first Liberal MP to represent the area for over a century and the first woman ever to be elected to the role, she spoke of her love for the constituency as the place where she raised her family and called home for 13 years.

She also spoke of many challenges the constituency faces, including poor SEND provision, fuel poverty, and pollution in rivers.

Speaking after delivering her speech, she said: “Stratford is a special place, full of special people. With its collection of towns, hamlets, and villages each with their own distinct history and culture but united by common community spirit and love for our precious place in the world.

“Our communities are beautiful, but they face challenges like never before. Over the course of the next parliament, I will work with my Liberal Democrat colleagues to hold the new Labour government to account and demand a fair deal for our area.”
