A FIRE investigation is underway after a huge blaze at a barn in Alveston.

Firefighters from Alcester, Stratford and Leamington were called to the fire in the early hours of Wednesday (September 23).

The barn was completely destroyed with around 80 tonnes of hay and farm machinery going up in smoke.

Cattle inside the barn also died as a result of the blaze.

Detective Sergeant Alexandra Peel of Warwickshire Police said: “This is a very rural area and the owners are understandably devastated by what has happened.

“We would urge anybody with any information about the incident or who may have seen something suspicious to please contact the police on 101.”

An investigator from Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue is currently working to determine the cause.
