A FILMMAKING youngster has been announced as runner up in a competition celebrating nature.

Rebecca Smith from Stratford was one of hundreds to enter the Nature in your Neighbourhood competition, which saw the talented 11-year-old place fourth.

Young people aged five to 19 entered short films showing a time capsule of their time during the pandemic.

And Rebecca’s film ‘Dear Future Me’ is a letter to her future self, documenting her experience with nature during lockdown.

Judges were impressed the film combined her passion for filmmaking and love for nature, while also exercising her creativity and imagination during lockdown.

She said: “I could never have imagined my film coming fourth out of hundreds and hundreds of entries from all around the country. It means so much to me that other people enjoyed viewing my film as much as I did making it.”
