Families can go back to school - in the 1500s

SHAKESPEARE’S Schoolroom & Guildhall will be opening its doors for the half term holidays.

From Saturday 19 to Sunday February 27, families can learn about school life in Shakespeare’s boyhood days and explore toy chest treasures in a Tudor Childhood exhibition.

The exhibition looks at life 450 years ago through the eyes of a child, from card games to board games, dolls to precious trinkets.

Visitors can even take part in a school lesson and try their hand at quill writing.

And on Thursday February 24 Kate’s Storytree will be taking over the Master’s Chamber to create a world of imagination full of stories, ideas, creativity and colour.

Sessions will take place throughout the day and will be inspired by themes of home, play, celebration and the future.

After listening to Kate’s stories, youngsters are encouraged to create their own tales by writing, drawing, cutting and sticking.

The sessions are suitable for children aged 4 and above, and for all parents and carers.

Adult tickets cost from £10 and £6.50 for children. Those under five are free.
