Dumper truck firm expands to meet growing demand

A LONG-ESTABLISHED Leamington firm is looking to the future.

Dumper truck manufactureer Thwaites was established in Cubbington in 1937 and has been based at the same Welsh Road site ever since.

And now it has carried out the most significant factory expansion investment in its history to match the growing demand and needs of plant hirers and building contractors across the UK.

The £12.9million project has taken nearly a year and a half to complete and will become operational early next year.

For the Thwaites team, the site will be more sustainable and with a new conservation area created for local wildlife, it will also be more environmentally-friendly.

The new factory has also been fitted with nearly 1,500 roof solar panels, enough capacity to reduce the cost and reliance of fossil fuels, delivering up to a third of the sites future power needs.

And there are also 36 EV charging points for employees and visitors.

Thwaites managing director Simon Hill said: “This investment will make the site an even better place to work, improve productivity and drive growth. In addition, we trust it will attract more of the industry’s top engineering and manufacturing talent.”

“We are delighted to announce the opening of this new facility and welcome the completion of the wider work around the factory.

“We were keen to ensure we kept local disruption to a minimum. I was pleased to see that over a 1,000-tonne of aggregate from the excavation and demolishment, were recycled on site, reducing waggon movements on local roads by more than 100.”
