A CAR driver was dragged to safety by a lorry driver shortly after their two vehicles crashed on the M40.

The smash left the bonnet of the car jammed underneath the lorry.

The car driver was able to escape but seconds later he collapsed and was dragged clear of danger by the lorry driver.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a man who had been moved to the safety of a roadside embankment after falling to the floor shortly after getting out of his vehicle.

“The car driver, thought to be in his 30s, suffered abdominal and pelvic injuries and was taken to University Hospital in Coventry for further treatment.”

The lorry driver was unhurt in the crash which happened just before junction 13 on Monday morning (November 9).
