Countryfile presenter gets stuck in at Charlecote Park

COUNTRYFILE presenter Matt Baker wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty when he visited Charlecote Park to film scenes for the show.

Earlier this month head gardener Paul Smith and ranger Adam Maher gave the team from the BBC1 show a tour of the National Trust park before they headed to nearby Charlecote Mill.

The presenter saw some of the park’s famous deer before helping to plant seeds in the ‘Buttercup Meadow’ for a programme set to air this Sunday (May 24) at 7pm.

Staff, volunteers and visitors have been busy planting some 2,500 plants to restore the field to its former glory after heavy rain last winter left it underwater for around three months.

They hope the new flowers will re-seed themselves and be a long-term solution if the field on the banks of the River Avon floods again.
