Council chairman encourages kids to get active

STRATFORD District Council’s chairman has put his best foot forward to get more kids active.

Coun Mike Gittus joined youngsters at Alcester’s Kids Run Free event on Jubilee Fields over the weekend.

He said: “Events like these fit the health and well-being agenda a treat, catching the children early and instilling into them the whole issue of exercise, healthy living and educational achievement.

“Interestingly of course the second benefit is that the parents attend to and join in the activity. I would encourage anyone to come down and give it a go!”

The event is the only one of its kind in Stratford district and takes place on the first Saturday of the month at 9.30am for children up to 16-years-old.
