Community projects across Stratford district to receive a cash-injection

COMMUNITY projects across the district are getting a cash-injection.

Mural painting, footfall counting cameras and a new cricket team are among 49 projects to receive a share of £1,162,900 from Stratford District Council. The cash is part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).

Funding highlights include almost £25,000 to be plugged into installing footfall cameras and associated “smart” data capabilities in order to measure visitor numbers to drive more footfall to Stratford town centre.

A grant of £2,500 has been alloted to Arts Rising Collective in Stratford to set up an Arts Hub with studio spaces, exhition space and a space for art classes.

Paint Stratford will receive £5,000 for a new event bringing high quality murals to Stratford from established and emerging street artists.

Friends of Stratford Shopmobility will receive £25,000 to improve their equipment.

A total of £20,000 is being given to Meon Vale and Quinton Cricket Club to set up a new community cricket team for all ages, genders and abilities.

A new sports and community centre will be fitted out in Sniterfield thanks to a £39,000 grant.

And £49.000 will help set up a mobile Men’s Shed in Stratford and the surrounding communities.

SDC’s economic spokesperson Coun George Cowcher said: “We are pleased to be able to help a number of small businesses and organisations from across the whole of the district. This funding will have a really positive impact on a great mix of projects supporting our communities and businesses, helping to attract new jobs and investment.”
