TWO men have been jailed for life for the murder of former Stratford Town footballer, Cody Fisher, who was stabbed to death on a nightclub dance floor.

The Studley resident was stabbed on the dance floor at Crane nightclub in Digbeth, just before midnight on Boxing Day, 2022.

Remy Gordon, 23, of Cofton Park Drive, Rednal and Kami Carpenter, 22, of Owens Croft, Kings Norton were found guilty of his murder.

Gordon was ordered to serve at least 26 years behind bars while Carpenter must serve at least 25 years.

A third defendant, Reegan Anderson, of Brookvale Park Road, Erdington was cleared of murder, but found guilty of affray.

Anderson was found guilty of affray for attacking one of Fishers friends. He was given a sentence of 18 months, however he will be released from prison for the time he has served whilst awaiting trial.

During a 10 week murder trial, the court heard how Cody had accidentally bumped into Gordon at Popworld in Solihull, with the pair exchanging a few words prior to the attack.

Screenshots of messages shared by Gordon in a group chat with several friends, including Carpenter and Anderson, show the killer appealing for help to identify Mr Fisher and threatening to “shank him up”.

The defendants later confronted Mr Fisher in Crane nightclub and subjected him to a violent attack, stabbing him at least twice, including in the heart.

Further communication showed that Gordon and Carpenter discussed smuggling a knife into Crane nightclub and wearing masks to conceal their identities.

Cody’s mother Tracey said: “It is as though I too was stabbed straight through the heart.

“My youngest son, my best friend, is never coming home to sleep in his bedroom, the room that I still cannot enter even to this day.”

Cody’s girlfriend, Jessica Chatwin, said:

“I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with Cody.

“That has now been taken away from us for something so trivial, I believe to be nothing but jealously and pride.”
