THE CHRISTMAS and New Year recycling and rubbish collection schedule for Stratford district has been released.
Stratford District Council has advised that from Monday December 26, bin collections will be a day later than scheduled up to and including the bin collection on Friday December 30 – which will take place on Saturday December 31.
This means that bins usually collected on Monday December 26 will be collected on Tuesday December 27.
Bins collected on Tuesday December 27 will be collected on Wednesday December 28 and so on.
Collections will take place as normal on Monday January 2.
Green bin collections will be suspended for two weeks from Monday December 26 to Friday January 6, to allow crews to prioritise the additional recycling and food waste that accrues over Christmas.
Green bin collections will resume from Monday January 9.
If in doubt, SDC’s dedicated app will let residents know what bin to put out and will keep people updated of any changes to services in the event of bad weather or other disruptions.
Wrapping paper and Christmas cards can be recycled in the blue-lidded wheeled bin.
But foil wrapping paper, glittery wrapping paper, glittery cards, ribbons, bows and tape cannot be recycled.
Any extra recycling can be put in a sturdy container or red box and placed beside the blue-lidded wheeled bin. Flatten or cut large cardboard in pieces no larger than one metre by one metre.
While real Christmas trees will be collected from Monday January 9 to Friday January 20. Any tree that is over five foot tall must be cut in half.
Leave the tree outside in a place that’s not obstructing the highway and SDC will collect it.
SDC offices will be closed from 2pm on Friday December 23 and will reopen on Tuesday January 3.
Missed refuse, recycling and food waste collections can continue to be reported online during this time or through the app.
