A CARE home worker is planning to notch up the miles for St James’ Church in Alveston.
Phil Vickers is taking part in a 50km walking challenge through the Windsor countryside and all the cash he raises in sponsorship will go towards the church’s fundraising drive for a new heating system.
Phil, who works at Alveston Leys care home, will be putting his best foot forward on April 1.
The residents of Alveston Leys have a close relationship with St James’ Church and attend weekly coffee mornings with the local community, while the vicar also regularly visits the care home.
Phil said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in the 50km walk to support St James’ Church on behalf of all of us here at Alveston Leys Bupa Care Home. I have had lots of fantastic support from the residents who are constantly spurring me on. We are hoping we can contribute as much as possible to their new heating system.”
