HUNDREDS of knitted pumpkins are on display at Charlecote Park as a more sustainable alternative to real ones.
Three years ago, the National Trust property phased out displaying edible gourds and pumpkins to reduce food waste. Local community groups, volunteers and staff came together to create a sustainable alternative by knitting and crocheting a crop of pumpkins.
Attracting hundreds of visitors, the colourful spectacle has now become a tradition that continues to grow every year. The zero-waste display now includes over 700 pumpkins, displayed in the historic kitchen and mansion.
Visitors can take home their own handmade pumpkin for a donation, which will contribute to the conservation of Charlecote Park.
The display is available until November 2.
