Bomb scare proves false alarm at Kenilworth Castle

ARMY bomb disposal experts were called in after an “object” was discovered at Kenilworth Castle.

Warwickshire Police posted on social media that a cordon had been put in place around the building on Thursday afternoon (June 18) for safety reasons, while officers waited for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to arrive.

The cordon was quickly lifted after initial suspicions turned out to be false.

A spokesperson for the castle said: “Earlier today, a member of the team at Kenilworth Castle discovered an unidentified object in an area outside the castle walls.

“The castle team alerted the police who came to the site and set up a cordon. The police subsequently confirmed that the object was not suspicious, removed the cordon, and left the site.”
