Award nomination for Stratford District Council's community safety team

TACKLING anti-social behaviour has led to an award nomination for Stratford District Council.

Its community safety team has been shortlisted for a national award in the category of ‘local authority of the year’.

The Resolve ASB Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the field of community safety, recognising the efforts of teams and individuals who go above and beyond to reduce harm, support victims, and build stronger neighbourhoods. The Resolve Awards are the sector’s most prestigious and coveted awards.

SDC’s community safety team includes ASB officers, a CCTV team and community safety project officers all working under the framework of the South Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership. The team coordinates cross-agency strategies, supports victims, encourages early intervention, and ensures that Stratford remains a safe place to live, work, and visit.

SDC’s law and governance spokesperson Coun Natalie Gist said: “I’m delighted that the community safety team has been shortlisted for this national award recognising their role in tackling ASB within Stratford and the wider district. I am very proud of their work, and the team has worked tirelessly to introduce a comprehensive approach through early intervention programmes and use of ASB powers, increased detection of incidents through enhanced CCTV and the introduction of a Public Space Protection Order.

“The team work closely with Warwickshire Police, town and parish councils, business and partners to address issues with targeted approaches. The team will continue to build on this work and identify new approaches as a part of the new South Warwickshire Community Partnership Plan for 2025-29.”
