Another crash on A46 leads to fresh calls to improve road safety

A PEDESTRIAN is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a lorry on A46 between Stratford and Alcester.

The man, in his 40s, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash which took place just before 3am on Saturday (November 4).

The A46 between the Oversley Mill Roundabout and Stratford Road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road reopened shortly before 11am, National Highways confirmed.

And this is the fourth major incident on this section of road, sometimes referred to as the ‘Stratford Stretch’, in the last three weeks alone.

Fresh calls to improve road safety between the A422 for Stratford and the A435 for Alcester were made after a young man died in a collision there in October.

Two more serious incidents were recorded on that section of road in the days that followed.
