A PHARMACIST from Alcester has won a prestigious award for her work delivering the Covid vaccination.
Fatima Ladak from Left Hand Grafton House Pharmacy was presented with the Clinician of the Year award in the Pharmacy category at the very first Covid-19 Vaccination Awards recently.
Covid vaccination volunteers, clinicians, support workers and administrative teams throughout the Midlands were recognised for their work at the ceremony.
Other winners in the Coventry and Warwickshire area included Dr Norman Byrd from Locke House Vaccination Centre in Rugby who scooped Clinician of the Year for Medicine, Lorraine Lewis from Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust who was runner up for Clinician of the Year in the nursing category and Carl Rose from United Reform Church in Nuneaton who won Allied Health Professional Clinician of the Year.
Speaking on behalf of all the local winners, Kerry Doughty, Coventry and Warwickshire COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Lead, said: “It has been fantastic that the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the vaccination programme has been recognised in this way.
“We were delighted to have won in a number of categories and to have received recognition for different aspects of our programme, which really showcases how successfully we have worked as partner organisations across Warwickshire”.
Since the first vaccination was given to then 90-year-old Maggie Keenan at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire in December 2020, more than 2.5 million doses have been delivered in Coventry and Warwickshire, helping to prevent hospitalisations and serious illness from Covid.
