ARTY workshops inspired by the Bard are taking place at Shakespeare’s New Place this month.
Visitors and residents are invited to ‘Folio Fridays’ – a series of creative hands-on workshops running every Friday until August 25 as part of celebrations for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio.
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has invited four West Midlands-based artists to showcase their creative work. They will each demonstrate the different techniques or processes they use from printing to poetry, linked to the Folio, before participants can try their own hand.
SBT spokesperson Jennifer Shufflebotham said: “As our First Folio celebrations continue, we’re thrilled to unveil ‘Folio Fridays’. This is a first for us, and part of our commitment to programming activities that tempt audiences back to the Shakespeare family homes across the year.
“From printmaking to sculpting a legacy, the workshops are a wonderful opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to embrace a new skill, all while immersing themselves in the breathtaking grounds of a property Shakespeare once called home.’’
