Stratford in Bloom Local Gardening Competition 2018

Stratford Editorial 7th Jun, 2018 Updated: 7th Jun, 2018   0

It’s that time of year again when we are asking everyone – residents and business owners – to do their best to make our town look florally beautiful. Everyone is judged in their category – shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels etc. Basically everywhere within the boundary of Stratford-on-Avon, including all of the front gardens, will be judged. Last year was a fantastic year and we had a record turn out at the awards evening. But, of course, we would like to do even better this year!

There are four categories for which we need people to proactively enter their gardens. These are: Community Gardens, Bee-Friendly Gardens, Rear Gardens and an exciting, new category for this year – ‘Free Spirit Gardening’. The competition is free to enter so please either complete the form below or download a form from the competition page on our website. Don’t be shy, we consider all types of gardening, and we encourage creativity, so why not invite us to enjoy your rear garden and maybe you would win a prize!

The newest category of Free Spirit Gardening probably needs a bit of an explanation: Are you aware of a project that has involved a group or individuals voluntarily beautifying, with flowers, a publicly accessible communal space, but they have not received recognition? Then enter them in the competition! Is there an area of neglected ground, which you wish could be made to look beautiful? If so, then get in contact, as we may be able to help you get the project off the ground and you could win! The ‘Free Spirit’ areas can be large or small but must be located within the wards of Stratford-on-Avon and able to be enjoyed by many.
