Award-Winning Pub To The Rescue This Valentine’s Day

The Coach House on Rother Street has won numerous Best Pub Awards not just for its food, drinks and hospitality, but for the extra thought they put into occasions for customers. On the 14th February they will come to the rescue of loved-up couples dining with them too. For those who spontaneously feel the need to pop the question, but don’t have a ring, the pub has bought some ‘over-the-top cocktail rings’ to ensure the moment goes smoothly! Linzi Toon, GM of the pub explains; “For anyone wanting to pop the question, but haven’t come prepared, we’ve bought some fabulously fun over-the-top cocktail rings, just like in the movies, and we’ll happily share them with our loved-up Valentines’ should the moment arise!”

This fun element adds to the Valentine offering of the pub which is also famous for its welcoming floral arches and thoughtful décor which changes with the seasons and occasions throughout the year. The latest arch has been especially decorated with hearts and roses for this most romantic of months and they’ve created a range of limited-edition Valentine Cocktails which can also carry messages such as ‘Be My Valentine’ or ‘Marry Me’ on them!

Katie McPhilimey, Marketing Director for Davenports Brewery explains; “The Coach House has earned itself a super reputation for bringing occasions to life for their customers. They hosted an incredible 3-day Coronation Extravaganza with live music and face painters for families whilst their giant Pimms installation last summer was the talk of the town. The Halloween décor and party is always much anticipated with scary cocktails served in cauldrons and wickedly good decor. In addition to their Valentine efforts, this month they are also offering their limited-edition ‘Open Gate Guinness Burger’ which is perfect for those watching the Six Nations at the pub and will be available until 18th March, so can be enjoyed on St Patrick’s Day too when yet another floral arch will be revealed!”

Over the last two years the pub has won three Best Pub Awards, a Best Customer Service Award and was the only pub from the Midlands and surrounding area to make it through the finals of the Great British Pub Awards. In March, the pub might be adding yet another award to their list of accolades as they are one of only three pubs in the final of the West Midlands Combined Authority Tourism Awards 2024, Best Pub category!

Linzi added; “We take pride in everything we do, from our delicious food to our handcrafted cocktails and perfectly poured ales. We offer free live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and our legendary Sunday Roast has been described by customers as the ‘best outside your mother’s house’. I’m hoping that someone will want to propose on the 14th, and you never know, it’s a Leap Year so we might see some ladies taking charge!”

“The pub will be showing all the action from the Six Nations on their screen and like last year, the Open Gate Guinness Burger is sure to be popular. Whether you watch the games with your new fiancé – courtesy of your Valentine proposal at the pub, or with your friends is up to you?” Added Linzi.

Located on Rother Street, The Coach House offers a Light Bite Menu from Monday to Friday 12-4pm which includes slightly smaller portions of some of their popular dishes at a great value-for-money price, and it is always advisable to book ahead of their Sunday Lunch.
