Stratford Editorial 21st Sep, 2023   0

A 17TH CENTURY Stratford hotel with historical connections to Shakespeare is opening its doors for a unique open day.

The Arden Hotel is inviting guests to explore some of its bedrooms and facilities, as well as enjoy families activities and street food.

The event, which is being held on Sunday (September 24) from midday until 4pm, will also be a unique chance for visitors to learn more about the building’s historic past.

The main house of The Arden dates back to the late 17th century and was once part of the Shakespeare family estate, owned by local entrepreneur John Shakespeare, father of William.

William Shakespeare himself is also said to have written some of his works in the garden.

As well as free guided tours to find out more about its history and what the hotel has to offer, the hotel’s kitchen team is hosting a BBQ with street food style dishes.

There will be entertainment for children with garden games including mini croquet, noughts and crosses, Jenga and four in a row, while there will also be live music from acoustic duo Bird & The Birdman and a pianist.

General manager Sai Nathan said: “This is a really unique opportunity to explore the hotel, delve into its history, and learn more about what we can offer.

“We’re delighted to invite residents along for what should be a great day out with family and friends, with a fantastic BBQ, family fun and showcases from a number of our brilliant local suppliers.”
