ENTERPRISING staff at a Stratford care home took matters into their own hands when their local dementia cafe shut down.
Lower Meadow care home has now opened its own cafe for those living with dementia.
The cafe, which opened its doors for the first time on Friday (February 10), runs weekly and is open to Lower Meadow residents and their relatives, as well as members of the community.
It is geared at offering a safe space to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with others living with the early stages of dementia or supporting a loved one. There will also be a chance to access professional information and talk to the experienced team at Lower Meadow.
Deputy Manager at Lower Meadow care home, Jasmine Kessey, said: “Unfortunately, our local dementia café closed recently and at Lower Meadow we are filling that gap and providing a place to meet and share experiences with dementia. We want members of our community to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake, and to leave our home with a sense of support, knowing that we have an open door for anyone in need.”
The dementia cafe runs every Friday from 11am until 12 noon. There is no need to book in advance.
