WARWICKSHIRE’S Julia Helm galloped to victory in the 2021 Dodson & Horrell National Amateur and Veteran Championships.
Helm took the 1.05m National Amateur title with her home-bred 13-year-old Eros 2000 x Fritz Luke Helms Rossio at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in Liverpool.
Helm has enjoyed success at the Horse of the Year Show but this time she also had her daughter with her.
“I’ve won at HOYS and Scope but this is my first at the amateur and Veteran, although I must be mad as I’m here on my own with my seven-month-old daughter Gracie but friends have been brilliant holding her while I rode and she was a saint,” she said.
Helm topped the nine-horse jump-off by 1.26 seconds on Rossio.
“He’s not the fastest but we got an inside turn into the double,” she added.
