Sweaty selfies, press-ups and quizzes beat the boredom

ANOTHER week has passed for Stratford Boat Club with more regattas not happening, but members have certainly been keeping themselves busy.

Last weekend was due to be the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at Peterborough and the Junior Sculling Regatta at Eton Dorney and both are very popular with the club’s junior squad.

Taking the regattas’ place for the junior squad have been several fund-raising challenges which, as well as club juniors, featured wider family groups.

The NHS ‘Sweaty Selfie’ event raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity in conjunction with Gymshark has been one several members have contributed to during the course of their home exercising.

The J15 squad finished their week’s training with a Friday evening quiz and ‘social’ in which question categories included sport, geography and entertainment.

Abi Terry, the J15 lead coach, said: “The whole J15 squad has been closely in touch with their training programme and so to finish the week with the quiz was a good way to interact with each other.”
