Residents urged to have say on when Stratford District Council meetings start

Stratford Editorial 10th Mar, 2020   0

RESIDENTS keen to hear in person what councillors are up to are being asked what time they would like meetings to start.

Stratford District Council full council currently meet five times a year on a Monday starting at 2pm.

Coun Mark Cargill said: “All councillors are expected to attend full council meetings as they act as both the main arena for democratic debate and involvement and for setting both the budget and the overall policy framework of the district council. It is the ultimate forum for holding the cabinet and committees to account.

“Full council generally meet five times a year and a timetable of other meetings is arranged around these dates. There is an opportunity for public participation at the meeting, in line with the council plan for 2019-2023, with a priority of putting the district’s residents and communities centre stage. This means it is important to find out if the meeting times are convenient for all participants.”
