SUPPORT is growing to take action over the heavy volume of traffic travelling along the A435 through Studley.
Parish council chairman Paul Beaman says the endless stream of cars and lorries has effectively ‘split the village in two’.
And concern is also mounting over the potential impact of the Redditch Eastern Gateway industrial development which is likely to further increase the volume of traffic in Studley.
Coun Bearman concerns have been welcomed by residents campaigning against the number of juggernauts passing through the village, a situation made worse by overnight closures on the three lane M5 and roadworks on the dual carriageway A46.
Nicky Edden of Studley Traffic Action Group said: “We’ve got this in both directions and how on earth they expect a small village like ours to deal with that volume of traffic is beyond me.
“They say they are putting diversions in place but where are they? Drivers just put it into their sat-navs and follow those instead of the official diversions.”
Coun Beaman will raise his concerns at forthcoming highway meetings, which will involve representatives of both Worcestershire and Warwickshire as well as local MPs. Dates for the meeting will be set after the general election.
