GEORGINA MITCHELL produced a superb performance to claim victory at the British Modern Tetrathlon Championships run by Pentathlon GB.

Held at Tudor Grange in Solihull, this was a welcome local event for the Stratford AC member on her leave from her training base of Plymouth College, where she is currently studying.

This tetrathlon consists of fencing, swimming and then the combined event of running and shooting.

Georgina, competing in the under 17 girls category, started off with a good fence and swim and went into the combined event with a 39-second advantage over second place.

Her shooting was good and she had great runs too to finish 44 seconds in front of the second placed girl.

Georgina said afterwards: “This win was totally unexpected as it’s my first year in a two-year age group.

“I’m obviously delighted and already looking forward to next season.”
