THE FUTURE looks bright for sixth form students after another year of impressive A level results.
Although nationally grades have dropped slightly, schools and colleges locally reported impressive results.
Stratford School has achieved an overall pass rate of 99 per cent with the number of students achieving A* to B grades increasing to 42 per cent – a four per cent rise from last year.
The school saw some top achievers including Zach Brough who achieved straight A* grades.
Headteacher Neil Wallace said: “We are really pleased with the results our students have attained. These are the culmination of two years of study and an immense amount of hard work.”
Warwickshire College students have also bumped up their pass rate to 98 per cent.
One of the best results came from Martin McKenzie who received an A* and two As and now plans to go to university.
Deputy Principal John Rees said: “Congratulations to the students who have achieved this fantastic success with the college, and we wish them all the very best for the future, whatever they choose to do. They should be extremely proud of their achievements today.”
Stratford Girls’ Grammar School saw equally high marks in the private sector with a 100 per cent pass rate and over 50 per cent receiving A* or A grades.
Headteacher Kate Barnett said: “Our girls have again done extremely well and I am proud of every one of them. These results reflect outstanding performances.”
At King Edward VI School a record 57 per cent of papers received A* or A grades.
Top results were scooped by Bela Verga-Elmiyeh who received six A* grades and is going on to study medicine at Cambridge.
Headteacher Bennet Carr said: “This was a marvellous year group and I am delighted their efforts have been justly rewarded.”
