MEMBERS of Stratford Judo Club are all smiles after performing well at Coventry Judo Tournament at the weekend.
Facing competitors from eight established clubs including Pinewood of Berkshire, Wolverhampton and Northampton, the Stratford team came away with several podium places and narrowly missed gold medals fighting against experienced opposition in the finals.
Speaking after the event, head coach Nigel Sumner said: “I am very proud of how we performed at our first major tournament and would like to note the fantastic support provided by Stratford Town Trust and Stratford-upon-Avon Rugby Club, who have enabled us to develop the club and encourage membership from the local area.
“Our attendance at this event has put our club firmly on the map.”
