ALCESTER Male Voice Choir is urging new members to join its ranks.

The popular choir – which boasts more than 80 singers – is hoping to pass the 100 mark at its latest round of recruitment.

Set to take place on Wednesday, September 10 from 7.30pm at The Jubilee Centre in St Faiths Road, men interested in singing are invited to come along and find out more at the open evening.

The choir has already had a special year with the celebration of its 40th anniversary and founder Judith Land being awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Years honours list.

But Judith is now aiming to reach the next landmark.

She said: “I have always hoped to achieve a membership of 100 and if we could do that it would make this special year complete.

“We are a large, busy and successful choir with an excellent reputation both locally and further afield and our members are drawn from all over the area and from all walks of life.

“There is no audition process – all I ask is that members commit to weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals – and when they feel ready, to take part in our concerts, which are held throughout the year.”

Gentlemen interested in attending the open evening can call Judith on 07886 139781 or email [email protected] for further information.
