NEW homes for older people have been officially opened in Southam.

Tithe Lodge – featuring 75 one and two bedroom apartments on the site of the town’s former library – was developed by Orbit Homes for people aged over 55-years-old.

The development also has communal facilities, including two private gardens, a restaurant, cinema and games room.

MP Jeremy Wright and chair of Orbit Living Board Fran Beckett unveiled a commemorative sundial engraved with the quote ‘In the garden of happy memories, it is always summer’ to mark the occasion.

Mr Wright said: “It was an absolute joy to officially open Tithe Lodge and celebrate the contribution this fantastic development has made to Southam.

“Not only has Tithe Lodge made a profound difference to the lives of many of its residents, it has created a vibrant community hub in the centre of the town, which is already being widely used by local people.”
