A MAN has died after an early morning crash on the M40.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway around 1.10am on Thursday (January 14) just before a bridge over Stratford Canal between Longbridge Island and junction 16 for Henley.

Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer, the doctor from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and the MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived they found a car on the embankment at the side of the carriageway that had suffered considerable damage.

“The man – who is believed to be in his 20s – was found on the carriageway.

“Sadly there was nothing that could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash, which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra, is asked to call police on 101.
