ANGLERS kept a minimum three metres apart when the new river fishing season started with 14 competing in the Dark Lane Angling Club match on the River Arrow at Alcester.

Paul Caswell topped the pile with 15lb 4oz, Barry Feldhahn was second with 12lb 11oz and Glyn Blewett third with 12lb 4oz.

The leading trio were followed by Lee Harber (8lb 5oz), Barry Blewett (7lb 12oz), Dave Gibbs (7lb 8oz) and Chris Cole (7lb 6oz).

THE FOLLOWING day upstream at Coughton, the Throckmorton AC match featured 19 anglers on the River Arrow on which Barry Blewett triumphed with 23lb 2oz.




Tony Avery was runner-up with 18lb and Paul Caswell third with 15lb 6oz.

Section winners were Mick Keen (14lb 6oz), Andy Peters (7lb 1oz) and Pete Millard (4lb 7oz).


MATCH fishing restarted on Arrow Valley Lake on Saturday when the usual form pegs dominated the open match.

The visiting Gloucester anglers took the top spots, with Neil Anderson victorious with an all-bream catch of 37lb 9oz from peg 60.

Mark Blackmore was second on 46 with 30lb 6oz, ahead of Geoff Knight with 17lb 14oz from 45.

Section prizes went to Steve Bowen (Maver, 2lb 4oz) and Mark Bissett (Solihull Angling, 5lb 10oz).
